heads up, heads up, heads up

you hold me up

Trousers - vintage
Top & Basque - H&M
(is that a basque? Corset?)

I'm obsessed with these trousers, the photos in no way express their full potential. I'm obsessed with trousers generally, I definitely do not have enough pairs.

Nude lips, copper eyes.

Inspiration is landing heavy blows, but unfortunately a lot of it is literature-based, which makes it harder to share with you lot!

I shot these photos, and there was a really strong niggling at the back of my head which caused me to head toward my Vogue cupboard, and start raking through issues from late 2006/early 2007... lo and behold, I couldn't believe I'd forgotten about this Katie Sketch shoot. Subliminal, I love it.

Did you all have a good bonfire night? Nobody blew themselves up?
I spent mine in a field outside a friend's house, y'know, setting fire to stuff and being really nervous while the guys deployed £40 worth of explosives.
I'm supposed to go out tonight but... but I'm really tired, sleep is SO appealing. Pathe-tic, I know.

we jumped into your grave

Woah there, had a bit of a moment today. Tearful O'Clock.
Then you count your blessings, go to B&Q, eat something good. Y'know.

Saturday! I've LOVED seeing peoples costumes, my fave so far is this - Terry Richardson, genius.

Mine was admittedly slapdash, last minute and pretty vague. What the heck, though!

Grabbing beauty inspiration from Giles, Vena Cava, Rachel Roy and Proenza Schouler, I generally looked creepy (more so than usual). Note the bloody hands from smearing it across my pals.

"Do a dead person dance"

I wore a black body with mesh inserts, a transparent white vintage dress which I hacked up a bit, vintage cropped jacket. Corpse bride/husband mashed into one? Why not.

P.S. I'm keeping the blue hair

suspension of doubt

I wanted a hat which was basically a massive beanie/tam. If I'm going to have what are essentially dreadlocks, why not go the whole hog?
This dress is lovely. I really enjoy massively baggy dresses, and this one's velvet.
These tights cause people to approach me in the street. Or, alternatively, shout oddly-phrased insults about me having dipped my legs into paint.

Hat - ASOS
Dress- H&M
Tights - were a gift. Calvin Klein.

I'm going out tonight, with my slapdash costume and without my best pal. She's in New York. I hate her.
Photos to follow, I hope WITH ALL MY HEART.

Have a good one! Dress like a slag! Eat lots of ket!
(Not ketamine, ket is geordie for candy)

at odds

Chaos & Calm

this jacket appeals to me much more now that I've added a faux fur collar

But where's the fun if nothing goes awry?

Hello, new best friend.
My wardrobe space has just quadrupled, thanks to this bad boy (used to be a shelved cupboard, goes much further along behind the wall than you can see). I'm only half way done filling it up, and so far the sheer amount of jackets which I own has rather floored me. I might photograph it when it's all full, I like seeing people's wardrobes. This means I don't have to hang long stuff (jumpsuits, maxi dresses) off my curtain rail.

I got rid of my semi-dreadlocked hair. I hate it, too smooooth! It's not staying, much to the boy's irritation.

Scurrying off to London tomorrow, just for a day. Need to go and attempt to construct an outfitfor that ... I am a lazy dresser. And a lazy blogger.
And I need ideas for Hallowe'en, B wants us all to go as components of a salad... somehow I don't expect that to happen. Your costume plans/suggestions?

crumbling at the corners

So autumnal. It's raining really heavily now, has been for the past few days.
Normally this weather sends me into a haze of apathy and motivates me only to make indoor plans, nights in and quiet pints... feel like this last week I've really kicked it up a notch though. I've done a really large volume of work (for me, at least) and written my personalbloodystatement! I've also just been getting stuff DONE. This is rare for me. Blogging has suffered.

DenimJ - Vintage, Vest - H&M, Poncho/Snood - Benetton

Been uber busy organising a fashion show this week too, which is tonight! It's like, ethically sound and fairtrade clothes so not high-high fashion... however there are some pretty wicked Rodarte-esque scarves. Some of the clothes are pretty amusing but I've learnt heaps and heaps about eco-fashion and all that... I was kind of oblivious before, I think most people are without even realising it. It's a really great cause.
However, my job as 'stylist' seems to have extended to tasks including Promotion, designing Advertising, selling tickets to stockists, casting models, calling suppliers to chase up orders, choosing music, helping rehearsals, hiring photographers... all good experience though, innit.

I'll try and snap some photos tonight, wish me luck.

Later later lovers.

let's talk boundaries

Some out-takes from a shoot me and B did this weekend- not content with being IN an industrial estate, she wanted to climb ON top of it. (She's part girl, part monkey.) We were there, with like this sackload of clothes on the roof, and we could hear some rowdy youths in the distance getting closer (wasn't exactly the nicest area) - and we'd left the car keys and phones on the ground. I was hysterically laughing and being petrified and shooting as fast as I could so we could climb the hell down.
Why not break the law in the name of art, y'know?

Anyhow, I'm pretty heavily doped up at the moment, post-operation yesterday. I tried to make coffee without boiling the kettle earlier, and I'm typing slow-ly.
Good news on the male front, he's er, 'on a break' from his relationship? Ah, ok.

Also, what do we think of this?

I wouldn't say I'm cool with it, not by any stretch, but to me it seems like controversy for controversy's sake. Seems more passé than daring, it doesn't hold any shock factor. It's been done.
What're your thoughts? Racist? Ironic? Distasteful... or just fashion?
